On Saturday, August 22, 2015 the Village of Peotone is encouraging the Peotone businesses to promote their business by participating in a sidewalk sale from 8:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. The village is also seeking home businesses, local crafters, and organizations within the Peotone 207U School District to come to the downtown business district and set up an area to sell their merchandise or promote their business or organization. Main St. will be closed from Second St. to First St. for this purpose. There will no charge to participate. Home businesses (such as Pampered Chef, Avon, etc.) will be accepted on a first come, first reserved basis as to avoid duplication. This event is being held in conjunction with the already scheduled Peotone Farmer’s Market held on North Street in front of the Peotone American Legion from 8:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. Also scheduled is a Youth Safety Day held at Peotone Bowl located at 210 N. Second St. There will be an opportunity for the youth of the community to bowl with Peotone Firefighters and Peotone Police Officers and learn important safety issues at the same time. This event will take place from 10:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. Residents are also asked to support the local food pantry, Helping Hands, by dropping off donations of non-perishable food and toiletries at Fedde’s Furniture, 112 W. Main St., Peotone.
